Following up on the very successful introduction of our Garden Stakes with interchangeable tiles we have 2 new products to announce, with another major new product on the horizon. So what are these two new additions to our product family? Wrought iron trivets and wrought iron key holders with interchangeable tiles.
These two new products definitely compliment our existing product line. Not only are they stylish and functional, but now they are versatile as well. The interchangeable tile system, exclusive to The Personal Touch, means that as the seasons change and holidays come and go you can easily swap out your tiles to match. When you throw in the fact that you can personalize them in any way it really turns a very good gift into a great one. By giving any of our great products with interchangeable tiles as a gift you've now got potential gifts for birthdays, Mother's Day or Valentine's and other holidays in the future. It really is a no brainer!
So, what about the preview? Well lets just say that we will be continuing to add to our line of products that use interchangable tiles. What else can we add our exclusive ITS to that we haven't already seen? Here's a hint...Even though it's not a living, breathing object, it does have a face as well as hands. Should be out very soon, we'll keep you posted.

Fuzzapalooza ’08
Fuzzapalooza, our annual night out on the town to celebrate the birthday of Tom D. (aka - Fuzz), was held last night and was once again a smashing success. Fuzz is a special guy and I've been lucky to know him since we were both kids. His aunt lived two houses down from ours but that's not why I knew Thomas. It seemed back then that everyone knew Fuzz and it still seems that way today. Fuzz is what most people would call mentally handicapped but knowing him has made me see the error in any label like that. Thomas has got more going for him than most people.
Like I said, Thomas knows everyone and everyone knows Thomas, so all night long people were stopping and talking to him at every stop that we made on our tour. Everyone that he talks to is always smiling at the end of the conversation. It is amazing to watch but he just seems to have the ability to brighten up peoples lives with just a couple of words.
Since it was his birthday, I made him a Cyclones garden stone that had his name on it, which was pretty tough for me to do being a Hawkeye fan, but he seemed to get a pretty bug kick out of it. He brought it in to every stop on the tour and had to show eveyone what he had gotten. I just kept hoping that he wouldn't drop it on his foot since they weigh about 15 pounds.
Seeing Thomas have so much fun with showing off his Cyclone rock was worth the agony that went through making it.

Today in Iowa the presidential campaign is over...for a while. The Iowa caucuses are tonight and when they are over you will see an exodus from this state to rival biblical times. The candidates and their staffs, the pollsters and the travelling circus that covers the race for every media outlet known to mankind will be trying to get out of the state as fast as possible and heading to the next feeding spot like a swarm of locusts. I can't speak for any of my fellow Iowegians, but as for me all I can say is Halleluiah!
I am finally going to get my mailbox, my phone and my TV back. No more mailers from multiple candidates every day. No more computerized, recorded phone polls or "Special Messages" from this candidate or that candidate. I'm not going to have to hear "I'm (insert your cnadidates name) and I approve this message". My TV commercials will be back to beer and cars and credit cards with no more floating crosses or attack ads.
Now I am as concerned about the direction of the country as anybody. I care about getting the right person to lead the country and tackle the challenges that we face as a nation, but you just can't get away from it even when you try. I'm almost afraid to open my shower curtain in the morning because I'm afraid of some candidate's volunteer jumping out at me like something out of a twisted slasher movie. Hitchcock's Psycho in reverse and even more terrifying.
You can't even escape to the internet because this stuff is everywhere (like this blog for example). For those of you that are about to receive the swarm in the next couple of months, you have the sympathy of the people of Iowa that have been through it, and here is a word of encouragement and hope. It will end eventually. And at least one place on the internet that you will not have to worry about being hit upside the head with any political message is at The Personal Touch Gift Co. at http://www.ptgiftco.com/ where you will find nothing but the best personalized gifts for any occasion. Stop by and check us out to to find that unique gift for housewarmings, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays or to add an accent to your own decor. Happy Caucusing!

Happy National Hangover Day!
January 1st. Forget about your resolutions that you made last night for one more day. Today is a day for friends, food, drinks & college football. It doesn't get any better than this. I guess it could be better if the Hawkeyes were in a bowl game instead of at home watching on TV like me. Still, this is the day that college football rules!
It's not like it used to be though. Back before the BCS all of the big bowl games were on today. You could get carpal tunnel from changing the remote so much because you didn't want to miss anything. Now you've got some minor bowls that make themselves out to be bigger just because they are on New Year's Day. Still got the Grand-daddy of them all...The Rose Bowl. Can't say that I'm a big Illinois fan, or Ron Zook fan, but I have to pull for the Big 10 during bowl season.
Haven't been a fan of the Zooker since Iowa played Florida in the Outback Bowl and Zook didn't even know the name of Iowa's running back. When he was asked what he thought about Nate Keading, Lou Groza Award winning kicker for the Hawks, 'ol Ron said that Iowa always has great running backs. Nice. Great day for the Hawks on that New Years as they absolutely pounded Chris Leak and the Gators. Reports from the players after the game said that the Florida players kept running their mouths all game long and all the Iowa players would do was point to the scoreboard.
Hopefully, next year Iowa will be back in the bowl picture and I won't have to sit here talking about past Hawkeye bowl games. Maybe during commercials I'll surf the net for some videos of some of those games to get my fix for the day. If you find yourself net surfing between games check out The Personal Touch Gift Co. at www.ptgiftco.com for great personalized sports gifts and gifts for any occassion. If you don't find what you are looking for just drop us a line since we do custom work as well. Happy New Year's Day!

The Sucky Gift.
Christmas is over. New Year's is here. The holiday season is winding down. For most adults this is a welcome relief, but for most kids it's sort of depressing. I have to admit that I fall into the latter category. Depressed that the holidays are over not the kid part. OK, maybe I am still just a little bit of a kid yet. But to me, the holidays being over is on par with football season being over. They both make you just a little bit sad. I can remember as a kid after Christmas the questions that we used to get from everyone were always the same. Did you get everything you wanted from Santa? Was Santa good to you? And for the most part the answer was always yes, but every year there was always one gift that wasn't what you had asked for or that maybe even a gift that kind of sucked. Underwear, socks or pajamas come to mind.
My parents always did everything that they could to get us what we had on our Christmas lists. But sometimes there was a little twist, like it might not be the exact brand that you had asked for or it was the knock-off version of the original. When Atari was the hot new video game system we had an Oddysey. It was still fun to play but the games were just a little bit different. Does anyone remember the game called Simon? It had 4 different colored buttons that would light up and play a tone and you had to press the buttons that lit up in the correct order and the object was to see how long you could keep following along as it kept adding to the string of buttons you needed to push. The one that we got was called Match Me and it had eight different colored buttons so I guess we got the bonus version.
Santa was pretty good this year, but we still had the one sucky gift. My mom's idea of being funny, she got each of us a combo hot dog and bun toaster. Not very practical but it definitely got the laughs that she was going for. All in all though, I guess I can't complain too much. How about you guys? Anyone get a really sucky gift that they want to share?

Red Ryders and Death Stars
Ralphie Parker, the main character from the classic A Christmas Story, would have been jealous but I didn't have to beg for my Red Ryder BB Gun when I was a kid. I don't even remember asking for one, or when I even got my BB gun, I just always had one growing up. I never shot my eye out either, which was a good thing. There was one Christmas present that I do remember having to beg for. Actually it was more like beg, whine, cry, plead...you get the idea. That toy? A Star Wars Death Star play set.
My little brother and I already had all of the action figures and ships and this was the coolest thing that I had ever seen. It was four stories tall with all sorts of cool things that actually worked like a drawbridge and a trash compactor. The coolest thing that it had was the huge cannon that sat on the top that was spring loaded so when you blew it up with your X-Wing you could actually blow it up. I had to have it! It would make me the coolest kid in town!
Like Ralphie I did get my dream gift that year. I'm sure that my parents got it for me just to make sure they didn't have to hear what I would be like if I didn't. It shockingly didn't make me the coolest kid in town but my little brother and I and all of our friends did have a great time playing with it. I hadn't seen it for years until my mom called one day to tell me that she had some things for me. She had saved all of our toys and had them boxed up for us to take home. Mine is still sitting up in my garage attic waiting for the day when I have kids down the road. Maybe by then it will be such a classic that it will make them the coolest kids in town, but either way I just hope they have as much fun playing with it as I did.

The 11th Hour
The home stretch of the holiday shopping season is upon us once again. Time isn't completely up to find that perfect or unique gift but the hands of the clock are definitely getting close to midnight. If you're the organized type and have everything already crossed off your list then this is the time for you to sit back, relax and watch everybody else scramble. For those of us that procrastinate it's getting down to crunch time.
Growing up I was always more of a weekend before Christmas type of a shopper. If I couldn't get it the weekend before there were always lots of stores still open on the 24th. The selection sometimes left a little bit to be desired but you could always find something. Who doesn't need another tool kit or a new set of jumper cables right? I can still remember the Christmas when my older brother, another Dec. 24th kind of guy, was stranded at home on Christmas Eve due to a large snowstorm. No presents from him under the tree come Christmas morning.
It's a good thing that my wife handles most of this for us now and that she's got way more organizational ability in her little finger than I've got in my whole body! When most shoppers were running out on Black Friday she was content in the knowledge that she had 95% of our holiday list taken care of by the first week of November. I realize that not everyone is like my wife and having the holidays loom ever nearer is stressing many folks out. But cheer up last minute shoppers! There is an answer to your problem. Personalized gifts are a perfect solution and they make you look like you spent an forever trying to find the gift that was just right. It will just be our little secret that it didn't take that much of your time and you weren't out scouting the shopping malls and the Internet since the 4th of July to find it. Get them a gift that's personalized, and don't end up like me or my brother this Christmas. I guarantee they'll love it and love you for it.
